to the dancers out there... wanna share what i learnt in LA, amongst many other things, this is what hit me most:

dance to express, not to impress

so cliched, so overused. something i have told my juniors before, but only really understood when i am forced to dig deeper, when i am reminded to tell a story, when these amazing instructors tell me that it's all about the ATTITUDE, and when u dance they tell you to LIVE, when i am watching people dance and am moved to tears.

dance is indeed a language. and it is so obviously universal when im in the studios in US... u get people from EVERYWHERE and i mean everywhere, coming together and LIVING... doesnt matter what language you speak, where you're from, your economic status, social status... we're all in the same place for the same goal, to pick up new vocab and increase our abilities to speak the language.

so inspiring!!! :)

BODY ACHE LAHHHHH

had "hot pot" with the people staying at the 2xs crib... I DIDNT REALIZE I MISS NAPA CABBAGE SO MUCH. i think its my favourite veggie. we didnt have a big pot so we cooked everything in 2 small pots and in batches, so every time those 2 small pots came out everyone snatched like crazy

todays classes were all vastly different in styles. and i must have done like a gazillionbillion sit ups already... super super body ache!!!
woke up early in the morning for Nick L's contemporary class, got called out! quite surprised... cos its like my 3rd contemp class? i think im still lacking in strength and technique and flexibility. but as usual, someone taking vid again so half my mind was distracted.
im slowly falling in love with the dance style, i think it reaches someplace much deeper than hip hop :)
